Rolling Stones "Outtakes & Alternates (1960s - 1978) - 2CD

The Rolling Stones
Professional Master Series -- Outtakes & Alternates (1960's - 1978)
by JFLabs

Lineage: Various Silvers & Vinyl Studio Outtakes --> Flac to Wave --> Mastered for CD Audio --> Wave to Flac (Trader's Little Helper) --> Uploaded to you

Greetings fellow music lovers,

First, JFLabs is a fictitous name i'll be using to denote bootlegs that have been mastered by myself & assistant.  I used to work as an audio mastering engineer in the music industry for almost 20 years. Now my health is not so good & i'm disabled & retired.  This gives me the time to work on projects like this one...as long as my health is decent.  I wish to remain anonymous for any possible legal issues regarding bootlegs...ya never know in today's world:-(   I treat each track as if they were final mixes placed on my desk to be mastered.  I only deal with high quality recorded & mixed tracks...stuff I'm gonna listen to myself after they are mastered. On to this series of tracks.

First, I chose only tracks that were recorded & mixed somewhat pretty good (except for the 2 Bonus songs...i couldn't resist adding them even though they have their share of hiccups & the quality of recording is not up to par). I did some edits (removed clicks, crackle, hiss, corrected speed/pitch, fades...etc.), then went about the mastering procces. I tried hard to stay away from compressing the mids & was real careful not to limit them to death so as to keep the dynamics/transients intact. They are limited to around 12.3db--15db, which is a good comprimise between loudness & dynamics. Don't expect them to sound like officially released tracks...although i do prefer some of these over their official counterpart. Some tracks were just not recorded good enough (wild horses, sweet virginia, all down the down_acoustic...etc.), but still sound pretty good. The songs are in no particular order, i figure you can make your own cd's with the tracks you like best.

"Unreleased album planned as follow-up to “Hot Rocks” (1972). The project was cancelled due to disagreements between Andrew Oldham and Allen Klein about the eclectic track selection; which included controversial songs such as "Andrew's Blues" and "Pay Your Dues" (alternate version to "Street Fighting Man"). It was replaced with the more conservative double album "More Hot Rocks". Album was produced by Andrew Oldham. Digitally remastered 2002 from original vinyl source.
A faithful reproduction of the prototype concept and recording. This record is the pre-curser to the "Black Box" concept that was revived in 1975, and would ultimately culminate into "Metamorphosis." A lot of thought was put into retrospective recordings by ABKCO in the early to mid-Seventies.
Sound Quality - Excellent Studio Recordings. Some acetate surface noise heard at intros & outros. Upgraded clear stereo sound on many older outtakes that have surfaced over the years, such as Pay Your Dues."

This is not the VGP or the Mecca release. I've bought this - beautiful - digipack CD 2 or 3 years before the VGP version came out.

I had bad vibes on the drive to the concert because the weather forecast called for 80 to 100 percent chance of rain during the show. Thankfully, we got not one drop of rain, and there was a nice breeze. I saw the Stones only once before in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1994, so I figured if I wanted to see them again now was the time. Mick was full of energy throughout the show, and the crowd couldn’t get enough. There were bum notes from Keith from time to time, but no one seemed to care. It’s clear that 2015 is not 1972, but they’re still getting it done. I was hoping for “Street Fighting Man,” but “She’s So Cold” was nice.

hence the title of the bootleg.

Unfortunately a very exited girl from the audience is too near to the microphone.

It seems that Fingerprint File was played before Cherry Oh Baby.
Bill shines on this record.

This show is also available on Coast2Coast records titled "Cherry On Baby";
that version does not have the Billy Preston tracks.
This here might become my favorite of the NY concerts.

Ladies and Gentleman The Rolling Stones! As much as I like the Stones they have not been a priority for me to see over the years.
Last time I saw them was in 1981 and it rained like crazy at the Cotton Bowl that day. I think they call it Zip Code because the stage was in
one Zip Code and my seat was in another. I can't remember the last time I was that far away at a concert. The show was great, a lot of energy
However the accoustics in the stadium leave a lot to be desired.Still all in all the recordong came out decent. Not my best but not my worst.

Ten seats from stage runway on the right.
Disc change between Miss You and Gimme Shelter with a few seconds faded out and in from the music.
I had to minimise one or three involuntary screams when Paint It Black started, when Lisa did her solo bit in Gimme Shelter and after the first riff in Start Me Up.
Otherwise just volume, dynamics, crackle removal and a bit of EQ.
This is a good recording for the equipment but I hope that someone did a perfect 24bit FLAC recording of this show on a hard disc recorder. Please please please.

Great show, my 23rd Stones concert.
They rocked like mere sixty years olds... even though three of them are way past seventy now.
Seriously, the Stones were the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world on that night.
Keith had three songs to give Mick's throat extra time for recovery.
An almost perfect set list. Amazing atmosphere in the arena.
If only Mick Taylor were allowed to play one extra song like Can't You Hear Me Knocking...

notes
I had the $85 mystery seats as there is almost no way I'm ever going to drop $600 a ticket, unless it is Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham on stage. So to avoid any major dissapointment if we were not lucky in the lottery draw, I went in expecting the worst seat in the ACC, anything better to me was going to be a bonus, unfortunately not much better, as the 2nd last row tickets was awaiting in our envelope. Lots of older folk up there, not sure if free tickets went to parents of the choir, but that was about the loudest applause of the night after the kids made the stage. All that being said, the PA mix was horrible, not sure if it was the location, but I have had simular seats for Aerosmith and had no issues with the sound that night. I did my best with the recording, eliminating a few claps, and the normalisation helped a little but still now where near a great recording. There is the odd clap along here and there, but no chatter, or out of tune singers. If anyone has the time and desire to make this nicer, then please go right ahead, I can make the original files available if need be, just share your results afterwards for others to enjoy. Until that happens, or another recording surfaces then this will have to do for now.

Rolling Stones live in New York 2006 - 2CD - March 14

Rolling Stones
A Private Concert to Benefit Robin Hood
Radio City Music Hall
New York, NY
March 14, 2006

This "private" concert was a fund raiser for Robin Hood - www.robinhood.org - an organization
that fights poverty.  Ticket prices ranged from $7,500 to $250.  It cost a minimum of $1,000 to be
in the orchestra.  MSG donated RCMH for free, the Stones played for free and even donated a
very large undisclosed amount themselves (the band did not even run any merchandise
concessions - though everybody in attendance found a free t-shirt on their seat).  Radio City
Music Hall sold out all 6000+ seats and raised over $11,000,000 for this very worthwhile
charitable organization, every dollar of which will go to fight poverty and not some hack of a
fund raiser.  I'm led to believe that this is the difference about Robin Hood ... every cent of your
dollar actually goes to the cause.

Why do I mention all of this, because I am asking all of you who download this show to make a
contribution to Robin Hood -  no matter how small - it is all appreciated and very much needed.
I'm guessing at least 500 people will download this recording, maybe more.  If you each gave
just $10 to Robin Hood that's $5,000, if you give more, so much the better for you.  I'm
attaching a .jpeg of donation form to this torrent that was included within the evening's program
to help you with your donation.  Please fill it out and mail it in with your donation, or visit their
web site - www.robinhood.org

People I don't mean to rant on, but just think of all the wonderful free music you download here.
Nobody asks anything of you, everything you get here is free.  Think of all the amazing
recordings I give to you for absolutely nothing, asking nothing from you other than your kind
compliments.  Almost 7000 of you have downloaded my Cream shows for free.  Tens of
thousands of others of you have downloaded all my other recordings (WLIR Pre-FM's, etc.)  and
I will continue to share them all with you here and elsewhere (up and coming the music of New
Orleans from the 1970's, the Meters, Nevilles, Rhapsodizer's, Radiators, etc...), but this one time
I am asking all of you to do a little good for someone else and to give a little to Robin Hood.  I
don't think any of you will miss the $10, but for those fighting poverty, those who don't know
where their next meal is coming from or where they will be sleeping tonight, your $10 can make
all the difference to them.  So PLEASE give to Robin Hood - www.robinhood.org !!!!!!!!!!!!

Now on to the show ....

This was the first time the Rolling Stones ever played Radio City Music Hall.  It was one of those
rare opportunities to see the worlds best rock 'n roll band in a concert hall built for music and not
an arena or stadium with crappy sound.   My seat was a $1000 seat in the last row of the
orchestra under the overhang .... nothing doing there, the sound would have been awful.  I
upgraded myself out in the open and into the $2,500 seats and wound up 6 rows FOB & DFC
(Front of Board & Directly Fucking Centered)!!!  This recording was made from as sweet a spot
as the sweet spot offers.  This was, as Mick notes, the most "well heeled" crowd the Stones have
ever played for, "even more so than Dubai, and you have more wives too.".  It was yuppie
central.  Mix in alcohol and clappers were all over the place.  Distressed though I may have been
of the yutz behind me who not only clapped the entire show, but he had no rhythm and was off
beat, you don't really hear much of it.  The guy next to me also started clapping during the 2nd «
of the show.  That's when I started dancing more wildly, striking his arms to keep him from
clapping, he got the message after a few hard "accidental" bumps.  An occasional hoot here and
there and clapping between songs, but all in all, this is amongst the best audience recordings I
have heard from this years tour.   I know you are all going to love this recording.

Note as I was leaving and walking by the soundboard I asked the sound man for a copy of his set
list.  He said "Here ya go mate!!!"  I have attached a scan of it to this torrent for all of you.

Note also that Sheryl Crow was supposed to open the show, but obviously due to her recent
illness she had to cancel.  Get well soon Sheryl, we all miss you and want to see you back on
stage.  Instead, the always enjoyable party band the B-52's filled in as the opening act.
Unfortunately I missed the first 45 seconds of their set, but I am including all of what I have of
their set as a part of this torrent.

Recorded by TaperAdvocat using Schoeps CCM4's > Reutelhuber Box ("The Best Damn Box I
Ever Made" per Reutelhuber) > Sony PCM-M1 DAT

Played on Panasonic SV 4100 > Lynx One Card XLR Digital Input > Music Only Dedicated
Computer ... Indexed with Sound Forge 4.5 & Burned to Mitsui Gold CD with CD Architect
Software using a Plextor SCSI Plexwriter 12/4/32 Burner.

Mitsui Gold CD Extracted to Internet Capable Computer with EAC > FLAC

Hope you all enjoy this recording as much as I do.  Please let me know what you think.  And
most importantly, share it freely with your loved ones and friends.  And PLEASE donate to
Robin Hood - www.robinhood.org

May those who try to sell or otherwise profit from my recording be cursed with all the bad karma
that you justly deserve.  This means you Middle Valley, VGP & all you other scum sucking
bootleggers who profit from my recordings.  We will find you and we will put you out of
business.

Made some changes:
Split the whole VGP-326 in three parts (2002/10/22 – 2002/10/23 – 2002/10/26)
Renamed the tracks and added a subfolder for the artwork.
Stored on an external harddrive.

DATE:

QUALITY:
Excellent Mono Soundboard (audience quality at certain places, to make the show complete)

PERFORMANCE:
One of the best 1981 performances, just like the Hartford show on the following day (IMO).
Recommended

COMMENTS:
This is one of the best sounding of the "newly circulating" 1981 board tapes - in general.

(This Empress Valley release is also better sounding than disc 1+2 of the DAC release "Still Life In Hartford". So you need this, even if you have that DAC. )

The Fort Worth recording from July 18th is the best sounding recording from The Rolling Stones' legendary 1978 Some Girls tour. It was previously released on Handsome Girls on The Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-200-4), Handsome Girls on Dandelion (DL 030/031/032/033) and reprinted on Out On Bail on Vinyl Gang (VGP-278), Cowgirl Barbeque, Gorgeous Girls Redux on Sister Morphine (Morph 024), and From Lakeland To Oakland (RED 006/007). Last year it was included on the excellent four disc set Handsome Girls: Definitive Version on Devil Productions. Now Halcyon has issued No Flash No Gimmicks. This label by the Empress Valley people has an impressive track record in improving already great tapes and this title isn't a disappointment. Last year's Devil Productions version was great, but this one is dramatically better. The stereo seperation sounds wider, louder, more clear and generally more lively. Balance between the vocals, instruments and audience is close to perfect and the music seems to leap out of the speakers and pummel the listener that is rare even for an official release much less an underground recording like this. The recording is so vivid and clear it is easy to see Mick dancing around and Keith slashing the strings on the guitar.

This concert is close to the end of the tour and the set list is set with no surprises. "Satisfaction" and "Street Fighting Man" were played in some of the early shows but were dropped by then and the long crowd pleasers "Midnight Rambler" and "Sympathy For The Devil" were not played at all. The horn section and back up singers that accompanied the band in 1972 and 1975 are missing and the Stones are joined only by Ian Stewart and Ian MacLagan on various keyboards and pianos. Unlike previous tours where they were making social commentary and basked in the light of being cultural heros, this is the Stones as a rock and roll band playing intense music. As one person states, this is the Stones at their most slutty and sleazy. Others say this is the Stones at their most sloppy and drunk and was the reason for their more professional attitude when they toured three years later. Certainly some shows like the July 4th Buffalo concert were lackluster affairs. Since Fort Worth was being filmed and recorded they sound sober and deliver a blistering set. Seven of the ten songs on Some Girls constitutes the core of the set list (with "Some Girls", "Lies" and "Before They Make Me Run" being omitted). "Honky Tonk Women" has a reference to Dallas which pleases the audience. "Is there anybody in the balcony?" Mick asks before "When The Whip Comes Down".

The highlight of the first disc is "Miss You". It is curious that on this tour they played the 12" extended dance club version and the track last for eight and a half minutes with several instrumental interludes (but no harmonica). The Watts/Wyman rhythm section sounds like a pile driver as they pound the dance beat into the ground. In "Just My Imagination" Mick quips "we're gonna raise a family...ain't that cute?" Before an energetic version of "Respectable" Jagger says the now well known line "if the band is lacking in energy it is because they spent all night fucking...but we'll do our best." Doug Kershaw plays the fiddle on "Far Away Eyes" and his contribution is the only complaint one can have since he is buried far down in the mix and is hard to hear. Although this is a professional source lifted from the King Biscuit Flower Hour's DIR archives it is hard to say there are any bad versions. But No Flash No Gimmicks is such a dramatic improvement over previous releases it is hard to expect any improvements in the future. Like all other Halcyon releases the inserts are printed on very thick glossy paper with the star holograms implanted in the mix. The cover has the close up picture of Keith and a dramatic live shot in the inside. It can confidently be said that Halcyon have released the final word on the Fort Worth tape.

Paladozza, Bologna (Italy)
live and direct FM radio broadcast by "Radio2 Live", Radio Due RAI [second channel of italian national radio], wednesday 16 December 2009, 21:09 hours.

WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His purpose is to introduce songs and translate what the artists say. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. There is also small broadcast glitch in track 01 (also featured on the satellite broadcast).

Paul Gambaccini re-visits the 1992 recording of 'Eric Clapton Unplugged', in the company of Eric
Clapton himself and others who were there.

On 16 January 1992, in front of a small audience at Bray Studios near Maidenhead, Berkshire, Eric
Clapton and a small group of musicians made history. For the first time in a public performance,
the legendary guitarist 'unplugged' his amp and picked up an acoustic guitar to record a selection
of old blues favourites and brand new material, including the poignantly personal 'Tears in Heaven',
about the tragic los of his son, Conor, the previous year. And then there was the radically surprising
take on the classic 'Layla'.

Paul Gambaccini hears the story of the making of this classic album, which went on to sell over 20
million copies worldwide and won 6 Grammies, from Eric Clapton himself. He also hears the memories
of members of the band: Andy Fairweather Low, Steve Ferrone, Chuck Leavell and Nathan East; Alex Coletti,
who produced the show for MTV; sound recordist Buford Jones, and members of the audience.

Remastered  JDWTYL Master Audience Recording
Location: Section 106, Row K

All thanks go to Mr. ‘jdwtyl’  for this recording and quick sharing it at DaD. This is his recording but with my corrections:
1. in places where it was possible, without any lost of music, there was entirely removed all fans screaming, howling and barking without reducing an audience applause
2. in places where removing was not possible, sound volume of screaming, howling and barking was gone down
3. beginning of  ‘My father’s eyes’ (34secs) was removed from ending of  ‘Hello old friend’ to right place
5. 5 secs of ending last track from CD1 was copied as beginning of CD2 /for better dividing into 2 CDs/
6. Fades -in and -out was made for every CD
7. equalization with raising sound volume to one level for all tracks was made.
